Junior Software Engineer at Evalian Limited

Due to our rapidly growing business, Evalian is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join our small, in-house development team. 

The Role

You will support the design, development, implementation, and support of applications developed for internal and client use.

Your activities will likely include:

• Assist in all stages of the software development life cycle, including but not limited to:
  • Requirements gathering
  • Documentation writeup
  • Project management
  • Development
  • Testing
  • Releasing
  • Retrospectives
• Assist in creating a good user experience.
• Support new and existing systems in development and after, including bug fixes and new functionality.
• Follow all implemented software principles and standards to comply with company policies including ISO 27001 and ISO 9001.

About You

You will have 2-3 years of coding experience and/or have a degree in computer science or a related qualification. You will also:

• Be comfortable working as part of our software development team, assisting other engineers on request and providing feedback and insight.
• Have a desire for learning and self-improvement.
• Be forward thinking, and innovative in the approaches you take and be willing and capable of adopting new technologies as appropriate.
• Have a can-do approach to work and ensure that all reasonable deadlines are met on time.
• Good working knowledge of programming principles and experience in any programming language.
• Have basic HTML and CSS skills.

The Package

The salary on offer will depend on experience and qualifications but will be in the range of £25,000 to £28,000.

You'll get 25 days of annual leave entitlement plus bank holidays plus your birthday day off.

Location 

The role will be home based. You will need to have a dedicated, secure, working area and reliable internet connection. We may request that you attend our offices or events from time to time for various purposes, but we’ll always provide you with advance notice. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Our current software development team members are based near Leeds, so candidates in the same region would be ideal to enable occasional meet ups but we’ll hire the right candidate irrespective of UK location.
